Tenant demand could grow in 2012

People who have
property to rent in London could see themselves in a fine
position this year, as many landlords across the country are
expecting demand from tenants to increase.
According to a survey conducted by Paragon, 56 per cent of
landlords are expecting to see tenant demand rising this year,
while only six per cent expect it to fall. Last year, only 45 per
cent of landlords said that they expected to see demand
increase.
This means that rented accommodation could match the sales market,
as it was revealed recently that the demand for property at the end
of 2011 was helping to keep the market strong, according to the
Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
Nigel Terrington, chief executive of Paragon Group, said: "It is no
surprise that landlords are expecting a healthy level of tenant
demand in the New Year, based on the levels of demand we have seen
steadily increase throughout the past 12 months."
